Killingly, CT Backyard makeover

This backyard make over project was broken up into 4 main phases.

Phase one consisted of excavating and removing over 20 tons of field stone, and over 30 yards of fill dirt from raised flower beds, beginning to level off the backyard and exposing the large tree stumps in the raised beds.

Phase two consisted of grinding 18 stumps, averaging 33" across, with the largest measuring 80" across. We hauled out all of the grindings from the stumps as well as some remaining woodchips from the tree company who removed the trees. We began roughly grading the backyard, using material from the high spots, filling the low spots so that we brought in the least amount of material possible.

Phase three consisted of bringing in screened loam, grading the back yard, and york raking to prepare for hydroseeding.

Phase four included hydroseeding the entire backyard and areas of the front yard where materials were dumped and trucks/ equipment drove.

Pomfret, CT Driveway tear out/ replacement

This job was a multistep project, beginning with ripping up and hauling out the existing compromised asphalt driveway. Over 50 tons of asphalt was removed offsite and recycled!

The new driveway was installed using a 3/4" processed gravel compacted base with a 3/4" crushed topcoat. This allows for a durable, yet 'stylish' driveway utilizing our locally crushed 3/4" bluestone.

A new irregular bluestone stair landing was installed utilizing ICPI (interlocking concrete pavement institute) standards.

The remaining areas were filled in and graded with screened topsoil.

Woodstock, CT Land clearing/ lawn install

We took over this project after the tree company was done clearing the land, and after the homeowner removed most of the stumps using his backhoe. The homeowner utilized us because of our equipment and skillful operators, needing to get this job done before it got too cold to seed.

We began this project by roughly grading the land, taking material from the high spots and putting it into the low spots as well as sifting out roots, rocks, and stumps.

After a rough grade, we brought in over 127 tons of 3" minus structural fill, grading the property to aid in water runoff and filling in low spots to prevent pooling.

We then brought in over 156 tons of 1/2" screened topsoil and gave the property a topcoat to allow the homeowner to seed before the temps dropped and seeding would no longer be a viable option.

Generations Family Health Center- Willimantic, CT memorial bench

This project was small, but was multiple days due to the forming, pouring, and curing process.

Day one consisted of excavating an approximately 8'x16' area 10" deep and forming the the 6'x14'x5.5" pad. All material was hauled offsite and  approximately 4.5" of 3/4" processed gravel was compacted to use as a base.

Day two consisted of installing the wire mesh and pouring/ finishing the 3000PSI 1/2" spec concrete with a broom finish.

Day three consisted of stripping the forms and backfilling/ seeding.

The memorial bench is to be installed by the maintenance crew at the facility.

Sturbridge, MA Driveway tear out & replacement

This asphalt driveway was compromised and was creating a hindrance to entering/ exiting the driveway.

We tore up and removed all existing asphalt, and hauled offsite to be recycled. we regraded the existing base material and hauled in 25 tons of our own premium 1/2" crushed millings. Millings were compacted to produce a durable, cost effective driveway.

The existing 'walkway' behind the house was replaced with screened loam and hydroseeded.

Putnam, CT Cobblestone flower beds

This project consisted of widening the front flower beds by the fence, and installing new flower beds around the house.

The beds were installed by utilizing a sod cutter to cut and roll the thick sod (used in another project in the backyard), laying landscape fabric down to prevent weeds and grass from growing in the beds, cobblestones being laid as edging, and 3/4" bluestone installed in the beds.

The cobblestones and 3/4" bluestone compliment themselves and the house PERFECTLY!

Thompson, CT lake house property makeover

This property is located on the shores of beautiful Quaddick Lake in Thompson, CT. The projected consisted of many steps, and included:

BEACH AREA:

•Removing a large oak tree on the waters edge, opening up the view of the lake.

•Delivering and spreading over 20 tons of beach sand.

•Clearing the slope above the beach, retaining the hillside with natural boulders, and installing natural stone steps.

PATIO AREA:

•Demolishing a 400 square foot concrete patio and hauling off the 16 tons of concrete

•Delivering and spreading 16 tons of 3/8" gravel as a base for a cedar tile patio area.

•Installing the 18'x30' cedar tile patio area that the customer supplied.

LAWN AREA:

•Delivered, spread 18 yards of screened topsoil and hydroseeded

DRIVEWAY/ PARKING AREA

•Clearing out a section of wooded area by the roadside, including brush and trees. We brought in over 40 tons of fill to level off this area and prep it for asphalt millings to be used as parking.

•The existing driveway was graded, and 40 tons of 1/2" recycled asphalt millings were delivered, spread, and roller compacted on the driveway and recently cleared parking areas.

Thompson, CT Dog Kennels

This project took place during an above average rainy season where we battled rain delays and lots of mud. Our original hired job was to level out two 15'x25' areas using a sturdy, yet soft material for dog kennels to be placed on. We did this by bringing in over 50 tons of silt to level off the area. We placed cattle fence panels on top of this silt which prevents the dogs from digging too deep, and then top coated over them with 13 tons of 3/4" processed gravel and 13 tons of stone dust, a very fine, dusty stone product that is durable yet soft enough for the dogs. Rip Rap was used to retain the slopes from the leveled off areas.

A 4" French drain was installed to collect runoff water from the concrete pad that the kennels butt up against.

While we were there the customer also hired us to deliver and spread/ compact over 24 tons of 3/4" processed gravel to be used for a dog run area.
